From Wiktionary under the GNU Free Documentation License. A father is defined as a male parent of any type of offspring. The adjective "paternal" refers to father, parallel to "maternal" for mother. Father-child relationshipThe Father-child relationship is the defining factor of the fatherhood role in life. Most fathers are naturally protective, supportive, and responsible and are able to provide a number of significant benefits to themselves, their communities, and their children. Involved fathers offer developmentally specific provisions to their sons and daughters throughout the life cycle and are impacted themselves by their doing so. Active father figures have a key role to play in reducing behavior problems in boys and psychological problems in young women. For example, children who experience significant father involvement tend to exhibit higher scores on assessments of cognitive development, enhanced social skills and fewer behavior problems. An increased amount of father-child involvement has also proven to increase a child's social stability, educational achievement, and even their potential to have a solid marriage as an adult. The children are also more curious about the world around them and develop greater problem solving skills. Children who were raised without fathers perceive themselves to be less cognitively and physically competent than their peers from father-present families. Mothers raising children without fathers reported more severe disputes with their child. Sons raised without fathers showed more feminine but no less masculine characteristics of gender role behavior. According to the anthropologist Maurice Godelier, the parental role assumed by human males is a critical difference between human society and that of humans' closest biological relatives - chimpanzees and bonobos - who appear to be unaware of their "father" connection. GNU Free Documentation License Do feminists assume fathers do little work when it comes to their kids/home? Q. Feminists say they are fighting for "relieve the double shift of women being responsible for work and child care". First off, nobody is forcing you to have kids. OK, why are feminists assuming that fathers do little or nothing when it comes to caring for their child? My father certainly did plenty for me. Sure women may still do the majority of the house hold chores but maybe some women don't mind doing those things? And the father may not be doing those types of chores but that doesn't mean he is sitting drunk on the couch all day. And why would you assume the majority of husbands makes no contribution whatsoever? Asked by cosmic quest - Wed Nov 18 19:23:56 2009 - - 7 Answers - 0 Comments A. "You OK with a woman making 70 cents to the dollar you make for the same job? That seem fair to you, M" LOL. Thanks for the lie. That rumor has been debunked over and over "Gender roles are confining to both men and women. Feminists just want to let go of that and divide the work up any way they see fit, instead of along gender lines. Why is that such a big deal to some people?" Because feminist views do not represent all of society. "Divide the work as they see fit?" LOL who do feminists think they are? Answered by ShriekoftheVulture - Wed Nov 18 20:59:58 2009 Would the founding fathers be turning in their graves if they knew what has happened to their secular state? Q. The founding fathers wanted America to be a secular land, a land where the laws and government would be completely separate from religion. Instead today we have an America where 47% of people say they would definitely not vote for an Atheist president. An America where the president cares more about God than poverty and human rights. What would they think? KW - The majority of them were not Christians. Thomas Jefferson famously said "Christianity is the most perverted system that has ever shone on man". Try reading a book some time dear. Asked by nectar_pepsi - Wed Feb 27 20:35:47 2008 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments A. I don't think they would care. It wasn't that they wanted to eliminate religion and God. They just wanted everyone to be able to practice what ever they wanted or not have to practice at all. As long as the president doesn't push religion on the people and oppress anyone I don't really care what their personal religious beliefs are. I think people believe that a president who "says" he believes in God is somehow more moral than one who does not. We all know that is completely false but whatever. Q. Why were the ideas of limited government, separation of powers, and check and balances so important to the founding fathers? And what do each of these things mean?
